Air Ionizers

Removes Particles From The Air and Neutralizes Viruses, Bacteria and Cigarette Smoke

Air ionizers work by changing the polarity of particles in the air which in turn causes them to magnetically attach to each other. This causes them to become too heavy to float about in the air so they then fall to the ground. The best ionizers use a stainless steel “needlepoint” to create negative ions.

Benefits

Ionizers are used to remove particles in the air which are as small as 0.1 micron and neutralizes bacteria, cigarette smoke, chemical fumes and viruses. They are also great for removing particles from a whole room rather than just the immediate area where the unit is located.

Negatives

Ionizers are not perfect however and can’t remove all airborne particles, they can’t remove odours, can’t kill germs and can’t remove all chemicals. For these reasons you may want to consider buying an ionizer which is combined with other purification technologies such as HEPA, ozone generator, UV light and activated carbon.

Placement of Ionizers

Placement of Ionizers depend on where you are going to be spending the most time. This is because ionizers can only purify the air of the room it is in and cannot work on the whole house. If you are placing it in a small room such as a home office, don’t worry about the ionizer creating “too many ions”. It is better to have a machine which is “too powerful” than to buy an underpowered unit.

Keeping It Switched On

Because electricity consumption is pretty low with ionizers you can leave them on all the time and because they are very quiet they shouldn’t keep you awake at night.

No On-going Expenses

With many air purifiers you have the added expense of buying replacement filters, luckily with ionizers this is not something you have to deal with. Simply buy the unit, plug it in and that’s it. Also, because there’s no moving parts your ionizer should last a very long time.
